Dr. Michael Fein
Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Michael Fein, is the Program Director and Quality Improvement Lead for Adult Clinical Immunology and Allergy at McGill University Health Centre, Dr. Fein leverages his background (MD from Jefferson Medical College, MSc in Health Economics from London School of Economics) to oversee program design and implementation. He actively participates in virtual care clinics, fostering connections with patients, and leads continuing medical education programs, empowering healthcare providers in Nunavik communities.

Dr. Michelle Kwok
Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Michelle Kwok, an attending physician at McGill University Health Centre, brings a global perspective and a passion for medical outreach. Her experience spans from Nunavik and James Bay to international locations such as Rwanda and Angola, allows her to champion culturally sensitive care. Dr. Kwok plays a multifaceted role in Connexion Nordique, assisting in program design and implementation, involving trainees in virtual care delivery and quality improvement.

Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan
Co-Principal Investigator
Dr Ben-Shoshan graduated from The Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv, Israel and completed his fellowship in Pediatric Allergy/Clinical Immunology at Montreal Children's Hospital in 2009. Dr Ben-Shoshan has been granted his Msc degree in Epidemiology in McGill in 2011. In 2011 he was granted the Emerging Clinician Scientist fellowship award by AllerGen NCE and in 2013 and 2019 and 2022 the FRSQ junior 1 and Junior 2 and senior salary awards respectively. In 2017 he has received the F. Estelle R. Simons award for Research by the CSACI and in 2024 he was granted the - Pfizer Research Award of Excellence. More recently he has established the first world-wide cohort to assess children with suspected antibiotic allergy through graded challenges for which he received a CIHR grant, and together with Dr Bruce Mazer established the first rigorously designed and evaluated program in Canada for milk desensitization and more recently they have established protocols for peanut , tree nut and egg desensitization. He has established the largest cross- Canada registries that collect data on the diagnosis and management of food allergy, anaphylaxis , drug allergy , anaphylaxis, mast cell disorders and primary immunodeficiencies. His research has resulted in more than 220 published manuscripts. His work on the diagnostic approach of antibiotic allergy in children has led to a fundamental shift in clinical practice for the diagnosis and management of amoxicillin allergies in children. This study was named a top 10 publications worldwide for Pediatrics in 2016 by the New England Journal of Medicine Journal Watch and in 2019 he has been funded by the Canadian Institute of Health research to continue and explore this important topic. In 2021 together Dr Protudjer he had been granted support by the Doggone Foundation, to a project aiming to overcome Barriers to COVID-19 Vaccination. In 2022 he had received CIHR support to study barriers to the management of anaphylaxis and new strategies for oral immunotherapy and in 2024 he received the National peanut board grant to study the safety of peanut oral immunotherapy. Ben-Shoshan is currently a physician in the division of Allergy/ Immunology and Dermarology at Montreal Children’s Hospital and is involved in research initiatives on anaphylaxis, chronic urticaria, drug allergy and immunodeficiency. Theme areas : food allergy, oral immunotherapy, anaphylaxis , drug allergy , chronic urticaria , mast cell disorders, primary immunodeficiency.

Dr. Christos Tsoukas
Oversight
Dr Christos Tsoukas is the Director of the Division of Clinical Immunology & Allergy. He has had extensive experience in conceiving, designing, and executing clinical trials in his 40+ year medical career. He has received numerous awards, is a member of the Order of Canada, and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. His role is to provide guidance and oversee the direction of the project.

Dr. Johanne Morel
Advisor
Dr Johanne Morel is a pillar of pediatric care for Nunavik's Cree and Inuit communities. For decades, she has tirelessly served these populations, traveling extensively across northern Quebec. She will act as the program's main point of contact for healthcare providers in Nunavik, offering guidance during the program implementation.

Dr. Adnan Al-Ali

Dr. Adnan Al-Ali is a recent graduate of the Montreal Children's Hospital's Pediatric Clinical Immunology and Allergy program. Originally from the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Al-Ali's interests lie in immunodeficiency and food allergies. He actively participates in medical education for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, sharing his knowledge and fostering collaboration.

Dr. Clara Long

Dr. Clara Long is a resident in Internal Medicine at McGill University. Her medical school training in Halifax was marked by leadership in student advocacy, including a project with the Canadian Federation of Medical Students exploring physician recruitment to underserved areas.

Dr. Michael Aw

Dr. Michael Aw is a resident in Internal Medicine at McGill University and a graduate of the University of Ottawa's medical program. His academic interests lie in medical education, particularly in creating enriching experiences for trainees. When not immersed in the world of medicine, Dr. Aw enjoys exploring the outdoors through activities like hiking, swimming, and fishing.

Dr. Meng Zhu Shi

Dr. Meng Zhu Shi is an Internal Medicine resident at McGill University, with a strong commitment to improving healthcare equity for Indigenous communities in northern Québec. During medical school, she demonstrated leadership as Indigenous Stream Coordinator for the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA), organizing summer internships that enabled medical students to gain hands-on experience within Indigenous communities and local service centers. Meng continues to advocate for culturally adapted healthcare solutions through her current work with Connexion Nordique. Outside of medicine, she enjoys badminton, swimming, music, and painting.

Danielle Ben-Shoshan

Danielle Ben-Shoshan is a graduate of the University of Ottawa’s School of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences as well as Brock Univeristy’s Graduate Program in Applied Health Sciences. Throughout her graduate studies, Danielle gained an interest in addressing the health needs of underserved and special population groups- specifically rural, remote, northern, linguistically diverse and Indigenous populations. Her final Master in Public Health project thereby took focus on increasing asthma management accessibility in rural, lower-income and racialized communities through the utilization of innovative technologies such as telemedicine. Danielle plans to continue her research on increasing healthcare access to patient populations through her current work with Dr.Michelle Kwok on allergy in underserved, fly-in communities in Nunavik, Quebec.
