Expected
Outcomes

Connexion Nordique breaks new ground. It is the first program to explore allergy care disparities and implement a hybrid virtual care model specifically for the Indigenous populations of Northern Québec.  This innovative approach prioritizes collaboration:

Building Partnerships

We believe strong relationships are key to success.  That's why we're actively fostering meaningful partnerships with community stakeholders, local physicians, and nurses.

Patient-Centric Approach

Understanding the needs of the people we serve is paramount.  Through surveys with patients who currently travel south for care, we're gathering valuable data to shape a culturally appropriate and beneficial hybrid allergy consultation model.

Breaking Down Barriers, Building Better Health: The Impact of Connexion Nordique

Bridging the Distance Gap

Reducing long-distance travel for vital allergy care.  This program directly addresses geographical barriers, ensuring timely access to specialist consultations for all patients.

Investing in Affordability

While initial program setup requires investment, we anticipate significant long-term cost reductions.  This includes cutting expenses for travel, emergency treatments, and lost work hours due to travel.

De-labeling of Penicillin Allergy

Imagine preventing unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotics by accurately de-labeling penicillin allergies, especially for children with frequent ear infections.

Treatment of Food and Environmental Allergies

We can streamline allergy screening and management for these debilitating conditions.

Enhanced patient engagement

By integrating culturally sensitive interventions into the hybrid clinic model, we expect to see a significant decline in no-show rates compared to traditional in-person or tele-clinic visits.

A mode for change

Success with Connexion Nordique can pave the way for a replicable framework.  This blueprint can empower other departments at MUHC and transform healthcare delivery across Northern Québec.

Connexion Nordique draws on Canadian research to deliver transformative outcomes for northern Indigenous communities:
